This easy 20 minute minute skillet lasagna recipe is sure to make its way to your monthly or weekly meal rotation. It is an easy dinner to throw together on those busy weeknights. Plus, what is better than a 20-minute recipe that everyone will love?
Recipe Ingredient Notes
To make our skillet lasagna, you need the following ingredients.
- Ground beef
- Bow tie pasta
- Olive oil
- Spaghetti sauce
- Salt
- Garlic powder
- Italian Seasoning
- Shredded mozzarella cheese
- Sour cream

For this recipe, you only need a few simple kitchen tools. We recommend using the following equipment:
How too Make Our Easy Skillet Lasagna
- To begin this 20 minute skillet lasagna, brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Once it is done, set the beef aside.
- While you are browning the meat, boil water for the bow tie pasta and cook it according to the directions on the package.
- Once the noodles are done, drain them and return the noodles to the pan.
- Then, drizzle olive oil over top of the bow tie pasta and add in the spaghetti sauce.
- Next, add in the browned hamburger meat, salt, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, and sour cream.
- Mix together and place in a skillet. Allow it all to combine and melt together over low heat, for 5 minutes, or until cheese is melted.
- Sprinkle with additional Mozzarella cheese if desired.
- Dish out the 20 minute skillet lasagna and serve warm.
Recipe Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
- For 20 minute skillet lasagna recipe we use ground beef as the main protein source. However, if you would like to look for alternatives for the ground beef, check out healthy meat substitutes by Better Homes and Gardens that you can use in place of the beef.
- Depending on if you are one that likes sour cream, you might not have it already available. You are able to substitute it with plain Greek yogurt if you have that, or there have been plenty who have used 4 ounces of cream cheese in its place. Note that the cream cheese will most likely make the pasta a little thicker but just as tasty!

Skillet Lasagna Recipe
Our skillet lasagna is the perfect weeknight meal taking only 20 minutes to prepare for a delicious, hearty main dish.

Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 12 ounces bow tie pasta
- 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
- 26 ounces spaghetti sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
- ¾ cup shredded Mozzarella cheese, divided
- ½ cup sour cream
Instructions

Havent made this in a long time and I love the idea of bowtie noodles. much heartier noodle like a lasangne noodle and I have 2 bags waiting in the wings. I dont use the sour cream but I do add in some ricotta/cottage cheese mix really makes it taste like a ziti/lasagne.

Can you substitute cream cheese for the sour cream?

I made this tonight and it was fabulous. The only thing that I changed was substituting 4 oz of cream cheese for the sour cream (I didn’t have any in the fridge! Weird!). It was fabulous and decadent. Thank you!
I used 4 oz of cream cheese because I didn’t have sour cream. It was delicious! I would say the texture would be a little thicker, but I haven’t tried with sour cream.
I’m trying this tonight! I cook for my dad and my brother all week long (49 and 15, although you would think theyre both 15) so hopefully this one they love and we can add it to the rotation! I think i’m going to use ground turkey instead

This has been my go-to recipe for throw together dinners as well as when delivering a meal to a friend. I used lean ground turkey meat, whole wheat pasta and swap out the soup cream with greek yogurt… SOOOO good!!!
This is my go to lazy meal..except I usually just use penne pasta and leave out the cheese. Takes more than 20 tho so oh well

We have never left it out. We have only made this recipe as directed. The sour cream adds creaminess and flavor.

Hi Meredith, We have never made this as a freezer meal, but looking over the ingredients it should freeze fine in an airtight freezer container.
I love your blog, and I’ve prepared several of your dishes (w/some minor adjustments) in order to suit my family’s palate.
I love ‘short-cut’ meals, and this dish sounds pretty quick & easy to prepare on a busy evening. I do however, have a slight issue with using Sour Cream for ‘creaminess’ in this dish! Sour Cream will ‘throw-off’ the entire flavor of this Lasagna dish! If you ever made a REAL Italian Lasagna, you’d know that there is NO Sour Cream in it! Try using (Low-Fat) Ricotta Cheese’, ( or) ‘2% Cottage Cheese’, (or) “Neufrachel Cheese” in place of the ‘Sour Cream’…. in order to obtain the ‘creaminess’. I don’t feel that the ‘Sour Cream ‘ would EVER work in this dish, but this is (only) my personal opinion.
I made this tonight. My only substitution was GF Noodles since I’m allergic to wheat. I thought It was delicious and the sour cream tasted great!
